O.N.E. Watts
O.N.E. stands for One Needs Empathy.
At Children Mending Hearts, we believe empathy is more than an idea. It is a way of understanding people, building relationships, and responding to the world around us.
O.N.E. Watts carries that belief into the community. When we approach one another with empathy, we are better able to listen, recognize strengths, understand different experiences, and connect people with the support and opportunities they need.
Because stronger communities begin with seeing one another, understanding one another, and showing up for one another.
One Community. One Vision.
O.N.E. Watts is an initiative of Children Mending Hearts created to strengthen connections across the Watts community and make it easier for residents to access the support and opportunities available to them. Watts is made up of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own history, relationships, strengths, and needs. O.N.E. Watts brings together people, organizations, programs, and resources across those communities, creating stronger connections and more ways for residents to find a path forward.
There is no single starting point for getting support, and no single path to success. A person may enter through education, mentorship, employment, housing, healing, or simply a need for information. O.N.E. Watts is designed to connect those starting points, recognizing that stability, wellbeing, opportunity, and belonging are often connected too. Wherever someone begins, the goal is to help them find the next connection that moves them forward.

Finding the right resource can sometimes be as difficult as needing the resource itself. O.N.E. Watts helps make those connections easier to find and easier to navigate, bringing together people, organizations, programs, and opportunities across the community.
-
Everyone enters with different experiences, needs, goals, and circumstances. There is no single starting point or single path forward. O.N.E. Watts provides multiple ways for people to connect, allowing each person to begin where they are and find the support or opportunity that makes sense for them.
-
Watts is already home to organizations, programs, services, and people doing important work. O.N.E. Watts does not replace those efforts. It helps strengthen the connections between them so that residents can more easily find and access what is already available.
-
People’s lives don’t fit neatly into separate categories. Education, employment, housing, wellbeing, family, and community are connected, and progress in one area can affect another. O.N.E. Watts recognizes those connections and works to create a more complete network of support.

The goal isn’t simply to connect someone with a single service. It’s to help create a path toward greater stability, opportunity, and a future they can shape for themselves. One connection can lead to another, opening new possibilities along the way.
